I’m a qualified native English speaking therapeutic counsellor with comprehensive training that bridges multiple approaches. My foundation is in counselling, informed by training in Compassionate Inquiry — an approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté that explores the deeper roots of patterns, emotions, and behaviours. Alongside this, I draw from mindfulness-based practices that support presence, self-awareness, and gentle exploration of what’s present. I also integrate somatic awareness, which brings the wisdom of the body into the process, and nature-based practices that remind us of our innate connection to the world around us.
In addition to my counselling background, I am a certified life coach and a sought-after facilitator of workshops focused on wellbeing, resilience, and life design. My professional path blends both structure and intuition: I bring evidence-based methods and grounded therapeutic principles, but I also show up with human presence, curiosity, and compassion. Many clients appreciate this balance of professionalism and warmth, describing me as someone who makes it easier to bring forward truths that are often left unspoken.
From my own experience, living abroad is an exciting adventure, but it can also feel like riding an unpredictable wave. There are days when it feels exhilarating — a fresh beginning, new opportunities, and a sense of freedom. Yet equally, there are moments that feel disorienting, lonely, or heavy with loss. The absence of family, familiar landscapes, and cultural roots can leave a subtle ache. You might find yourself caught between identities — no longer fully part of where you came from, but not quite settled into where you are now.
In our sessions, my role is to create a space where all of that is welcome. The joy, the grief, the contradictions, and the in-between states. Together, we can work gently to uncover what lies beneath the surface, whether that’s unmet needs, recurring patterns, or unprocessed emotions. My approach is relational, collaborative, and deeply human.
I can support you through times of life transition and identity shift, particularly those that come with moving abroad or navigating change in unfamiliar surroundings. For many clients, therapy becomes a grounding space for managing stress, anxiety, and burnout — experiences that often accompany high expectations, demanding jobs, or the pressure of trying to make life “work” in a new culture. Others seek support with the ache of loneliness or the slow, sometimes difficult, process of cultural adjustment. I also work with people who are carrying grief and loss, whether that is the very personal grief of losing a loved one or the more collective grief of climate change, global crises, or disconnection from a sense of belonging.
Equally important is the work of building self-esteem and confidence. Living abroad can challenge the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and what we are capable of. Therapy can offer a place to strengthen your sense of identity and cultivate trust in yourself again. For those facing relationship and attachment challenges, I provide a space to explore how patterns of relating show up in your life and how to create deeper, healthier connections. Underlying all of this is the cultivation of resilience and emotional wellbeing — learning not only how to endure, but how to live in a way that feels grounded, vital, and authentic.
I grew up in the UK and have made the Netherlands my home for more than a decade. Like many expats, I know the layered experience of arrival: the thrill of discovery, the vulnerability of starting over, and the slow, often tender process of planting roots in new soil. These experiences inform how I meet others who are navigating similar journeys.
My career began in corporate consulting, a world of structure, deadlines, and targets. Over time, I felt called toward work that was more human, relational, and soul-centred. This shift led me into counselling and facilitation — spaces where people can drop the masks they wear in daily life, breathe, and be met without judgment.
Clients often describe me as warm, grounded, and intuitive. My style is not about handing you quick solutions, but about walking alongside you as you navigate the waves and storms of life. Sometimes that means listening deeply, sometimes offering reflections or tools, and often simply holding space for what needs to be felt.
Outside of one-to-one sessions, I co-create retreats and group workshops where people come together to share stories, move through grief, laugh, and reconnect with what matters most. I believe healing happens both in private reflection and within circles of community, trust, and belonging.
If you’re an expat in the Netherlands searching for support, know that you don’t have to navigate this alone. Together, we can explore not just how to cope or survive, but how to genuinely feel at home — in your life, in your relationships, and within yourself, no matter where in the world you find yourself.
