Sessions are charged at €80.

I understand that therapy can be a financial commitment, so I keep a small number of reduced-fee spaces for students and those on lower incomes. These can be discussed after our first session. Please note that the first session is charged at the standard rate, and reduced-fee sessions should only be booked once agreed together.

My Credentials:

I’m Aimee, a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist specialising in REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy).

I have a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from Goldsmiths, University of London and have completed 3 diplomas in CBT/REBT with the College of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies.

I have run my own private practice in London for the past 2 years and have recently moved to Madrid. As a British therapist recently relocated to another country, I am particularly attuned to the emotional and psychological challenges that expatriates, and non-native speakers may face when adjusting to life in a new country. I understand the feelings of isolation and uncertainty that can arise in unfamiliar environments, and I believe my experience allows me to provide a safe, empathetic space for my clients to feel heard and supported.

My areas of speciality include anxiety (General Anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, phobias, performance anxiety), low self-worth, perfectionism, relationship issues and trauma.

I am accredited with the NCPS and follow their standards of ethics and confidentiality and have regular supervision with an NCPS registered supervisor.

My Approach:

I am passionate about offering a therapy service which is completely tailored to you. We are all so uniquely different and because of that there is not a one size fits all when it comes to therapy. My sessions will follow a CBT/REBT framework, but I will also integrate other therapeutic approaches depending on your needs.
When we first start working together, it’s important to me that I understand where you are at right now and where you want to be. My priority is that you feel safe and supported from our first session onwards. We will work as a team, making sense of how your struggles have developed and what is maintaining them.

REBT is based on the idea that unwanted emotions and behaviours are maintained by the beliefs we hold about others, the world and ourselves. It is our beliefs that can influence how we perceive and respond to events. The aim of REBT is to identify and challenge the beliefs that underpin these difficult emotions and behaviours and work towards creating healthier alternatives.

Our sessions will typically incorporate these five key elements:

  1. Developing awareness: Through discussion, we will explore your difficulties to understand their origins and how they are being maintained.
  2. ABC Model: I will introduce you to a model to help you understand your feelings and behaviors.
  3. Creating change: Using the model and other techniques, we will work together to develop alternative ways of thinking and responding to your challenges.
  4. Equipping you with tools and techniques: These can be used to create distance between you and your thoughts and feelings, allowing you to choose how you want to respond.
  5. Understanding the nervous system and its regulation: While cognitive work is valuable, it’s only one piece of the puzzle. Maintaining psychological well-being also requires understanding and regulating the nervous system.

About Me:

Before training as a therapist, I began my career in Television Production. I have experience with stress and burnout and understand the challenges of balancing work with other demanding commitments.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time in nature, being active and reading.

Summary:

I am a Private English-speaking Psychotherapist in Madrid specialised in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I work with adults.
