My Credentials:

I’m a psychotherapist with a background in medicine and over five years of clinical experience. I offer online therapy in both English and Lithuanian, drawing on a range of evidence-based methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and EMDR. I specialize in working with anxiety disorders—such as panic attacks, phobias, and OCD—as well as trauma, depression, psychosomatic symptoms, and emotional regulation difficulties. My academic journey began with a medical degree (Magna Cum Laude) from the Neuroscience Institute at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, followed by Erasmus clinical training in both Germany (Otto-von-Guericke University, Magdeburg) and Italy (University of Cagliari). I later pursued formal training in psychotherapy, completing an Introduction to CBT program between 2018 and 2022. I earned certification in Schema Therapy (ISST approved) in 2020 and continued to deepen my skills with advanced training in Schema Therapy with Couples in 2024. I am currently completing Level I training in EMDR therapy, expected in 2025.

My Approach:

My therapeutic style blends the structure of CBT and Schema Therapy with the depth of EMDR and mindfulness. Rooted in biopsychology, my work helps clients understand how their brain and body influence emotions, behaviors, and patterns of relating. I work particularly well with anxiety-related issues (panic, phobias, OCD), trauma, psychosomatic symptoms, emotional dysregulation, and family dynamics. I see symptoms not as flaws, but as protective responses from a nervous system doing its best to cope. In therapy, we explore how current patterns—though painful—may once have been adaptive. I incorporate mindfulness, imagery, and somatic techniques to help clients reconnect with themselves on a deeper level. Psychoeducation is a key part of my work, as I believe that understanding ourselves is the first step toward meaningful change. I aim to create a safe, grounded, and compassionate space where all parts of you are welcome. Therapy with me is a balance between practical tools and emotional insight. Ultimately, my goal is to help you live more freely and fully—guided by your values rather than fear or past wounds.

About Me:

I’m an easygoing person with a deep curiosity about people, literature, art, and science. Outside of my work, I find joy in long walks, cycling, solving puzzles, and sharing good food with good company. I value meaningful conversations, quiet moments, and the beauty of small things in everyday life.

Summary:

I’m an English-speaking psychotherapist with a background in medicine and over five years of clinical experience. I offer both in-person and online therapy for adults, couples, families, and older couples. My integrative approach combines CBT, Schema Therapy, mindfulness, EMDR, and Dialectical Therapy to support clients dealing with anxiety, trauma, depression, emotional regulation, and psychosomatic symptoms. Rooted in compassion and grounded in neuroscience, I create a safe space where insight and practical tools come together to help you live with greater clarity and connection.

Overall

I attended weekly therapy sessions with Girena for a couple of months, and in my experience, she is very professional and clearly knows what she is doing. She always made me feel welcome, listened to what I had to say, and helped me a lot with my problems. I can wholeheartedly recommend her.
