I have obtained my qualification as Clinical Psychologist in 2010 at the University of Bergamo in Italy. In 2014 I moved to London where I have spent the past 11 years working in various NHS settings as well as private mental health services. I have worked in therapeutic communities, crisis houses, psychiatric hospitals, general hospitals and specialistic services for psychosis and personality disorder.
I have supported individuals, couples and families to deal with serious mental health issues including psychosis, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, serious depression, anxiety, relationship issues, burnout and consequences of Long Covid.
My experience with very vulnerable people has pushed me to explore more the connection between developmental trauma and mental health difficulties. I deepened my knowledge of trauma in 2023 when I completed a master’s on complex and relational trauma at the Beck’s Institute in Rome.
In my daily practice, I am passionate about using my skills and experience to help people dealing with serious mental health conditions, as well as relational issues, in their workplace, in their couple or family. In 2021, I obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in working with couples and families at the Institute of Family Therapy in London. I am currently on a four-year training, learning Health Psychology and Psychotherapy.
I am particularly interested in working with people who have been exposed to relational trauma, both in childhood and adulthood. Also, I am keen to work with people who have tried therapy before and did not find it useful.
I am registered with the Health and Care Professional Council (UK) and Ordine degli Psicologi della Lombardia (Italy).
I use an integrative approach that combines skills and tools from various therapeutic modalities. My framework is systemic-dialogical, which means I offer a compassionate and safe space where people can bring whatever is causing them distress and discomfort, “what matter to them”. Together, we co-construct sense and meaning of their experience within their relational contexts.
I pay attention to attachment and upbringing and how this has influenced the person in their interpersonal interaction, including within the therapy session. I use psychodynamics theories and Mentalize Based Therapy.
I believe in a holistic approach to mind and body and in the importance of integration in therapeutic work and for that reason I often use somatic techniques, especially when working with traumatic experiences and emotional difficulties.
I value the input of Internal Family System in working with different parts of the individual and promoting acceptable change.
When therapeutically useful, I integrate CBT and DBT.
When I don’t work, I like to spend time in the countryside, appreciating the beauty of the Alps and the fresh air. I also enjoy eating out with friends and listening to classical music and opera.
I am an English-speaking Clinical Psychologist in Bergamo (Italy), with 10 years of experience working in London in various settings and modalities. I have a special interest in working with people struggling with the aftermath of traumatic experiences, including developmental trauma. I offer ONLY online sessions to adults, older adults, families and couples.
