My Credentials:

I am a Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist working remotely. I have worked with some of the top online agencies, like Serenis. Previously, I served as a Forensic Psychologist for the Stoke on Trent City Council, UK, and as a Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist in private practice. I worked with the NHS in Stafford, UK, providing psychodynamic and brief psychotherapies. I spent a year in the UK enhancing my English proficiency and studying CBT and psychodynamic therapy.

In Bologna, Italy, I practiced privately, addressing eating disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, panic attacks, and suicidal behaviors, using psychodynamic and integrative approaches. I collaborated with multidisciplinary teams and provided consultations to other professionals.

Earlier, I worked with the Mental Health Service in Bologna, focusing on addiction and mental health issues. I co-founded ‘Cuori in Pace,’ assisting families dealing with divorce and abuse. As a counselor in Sant’Agata Bolognese, I supported adolescents with trauma-related issues.

I have extensive experience from working in a Mental Health Center in Turin, handling various mental health disorders using psychodynamic therapy and DBT. My training includes a clinical psychology internship in the Psychiatry Department at Ospedale Maggiore, Bologna, and a placement at Ospedale di Sant’Anna, Ferrara.

I hold a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy from the University of Turin (2010) and a degree in General Psychology from the University of Bologna(2003). I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC, pending), as well as being a registered Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist in New Zealand (#90-06246). I am also a Member of SIPAP (since April 2010) and I am registered with the Italian Psychologists’ Register (#4408, since January 2006).

My Approach:

I believe in the profound impact of relationships on the perception of the world and their connection with emotions. Feelings, intertwined in the fabric of experiences, often generate patterns that shape responses. Individuals find themselves trapped in recurring cycles, struggling against behaviors that are difficult to change. My approach, guided by psychodynamic principles, explores the unconscious, revealing the complexities of past experiences reflected in current behavior. The process begins with a thorough assessment of personality structure and defense mechanisms. By placing mutual trust at the center and adapting the therapeutic path to the needs and idiosyncratic differences of each individual, therapeutic goals are defined.
Through techniques such as free association and dream analysis, unconscious content that influences thoughts and actions emerges. The relational dynamics between therapist and patient are carefully evaluated, offering insights into the complexity of the client’s relational patterns. This process allows the patient to develop the ability to name their emotions and adopt positive behaviors. Beyond the therapeutic space, the focus remains on promoting self-reflection, with possibilities for follow-up sessions. In this empathic journey, I maintain a professional tone, fostering an alliance in navigating the intricate complexities of the unconscious.
The therapeutic journey begins with an initial meeting where the client’s history, current concerns, and goals for therapy are discussed. This initial assessment is crucial as it helps in understanding the unique context of each individual. By delving into the client’s past experiences, family dynamics, and significant life events, I can better understand the underlying issues that may be influencing present behavior and emotional states. One of the core techniques in my approach is free association. This technique encourages clients to speak freely about whatever comes to mind without censorship. This process often reveals hidden thoughts, feelings, and memories that are not immediately accessible to the conscious mind. By exploring these unconscious elements, clients can gain a deeper understanding of their internal conflicts and unresolved issues.
Dream analysis is another pivotal aspect of my psychodynamic approach. Dreams are seen as a window into the unconscious, offering valuable insights into the client’s inner world. By analyzing dreams, we can uncover symbolic meanings and gain a better understanding of the client’s fears, desires, and unresolved conflicts. This process can lead to profound self-awareness and facilitate the healing process.
The therapeutic relationship itself is a vital component of the psychodynamic approach. The interactions between therapist and client can mirror the client’s relational patterns and provide a unique opportunity for change. By observing and analyzing these dynamics, we can identify and address maladaptive patterns, fostering healthier ways of relating to others.
I place a strong emphasis on creating a safe and supportive therapeutic environment. This environment allows clients to explore their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. Trust and confidentiality are paramount, as they enable clients to delve deeply into their inner world and work through difficult emotions and experiences.
In addition to the core techniques of free association and dream analysis, I integrate other therapeutic modalities as needed to address the specific needs of each client. This may include cognitive-behavioral techniques to address negative thought patterns, mindfulness practices to enhance self-awareness, and interpersonal therapy to improve relational skills.
Throughout the therapeutic process, I encourage clients to engage in self-reflection and self-exploration. This ongoing process of introspection helps clients gain insight into their behavior, thoughts, and emotions, leading to lasting change. Follow-up sessions provide an opportunity to review progress, address any new concerns, and reinforce the gains made during therapy.
Ultimately, my goal is to empower clients to understand themselves better, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and achieve a greater sense of well-being. By exploring the unconscious mind and addressing unresolved issues, clients can break free from recurring cycles and create positive changes in their lives. This holistic and individualized approach aims to foster personal growth, emotional healing, and improved relational patterns, enabling clients to lead more fulfilling and meaningful lives.

About Me:

I enjoy reading novels (especially by Russian authors). These days I am reading “Memories from the Underground” by Dostoevskij. I also enjoy drawing on stones and rocks reproducing faces by Picasso. I also have a passion for running. I have run two marathons and three half marathons.

Summary:

I am an English-speaking registered Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist working remotely, offering individual therapy sessions. I’ve always had a passion for helping people and getting them to where the need and want to be is my ultimate aim. I understand that therapy isn’t easy or a short process, but together we can make in enjoyable and get you the results you want.
