I am a Psychologist in Psychotherapy working with psychoanalytic and relational approaches. I have a degree in psychology, a Master in clinical and dynamic psychology and a Doctorate in social psychology. I am chartered with the Italian Psychological Society (Ordine degli Psicologi).
My goal is to support my clients’ self-knowledge by exploring and potentially transforming their symbolic representation of critical aspects of life, in order to deal with them in a more open-minded way, avoiding the feeling of being “trapped” by reality, whether it is one’s job, love, family or friendship.
In order to do as such, my focus is precisely on the issue that brings my clients to ask for a psychological support, their demands are at the core of our psychological work. The psychological setting is therefore specifically thought as a space where the emotional components can be elaborated and integrated with the transformations that life requires.
I have worked in the field of counselling and psychotherapy, as well as in the Academia as a researcher and as a consultant for public and private organisations.
As psychotherapist I have worked for the Italian National Mental Health Service and for private clients. As a researcher I have worked for a number of organisations including University of Rome La Sapienza, of Padua and Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa.
My areas of specialty include existential issues, like relationships, work, couples, family and social issues, that can express through symptoms as anxiety, depression, anger, stress but also many others.
I am a psychoanalyst with a deep focus on addressing the emotional, psychological and cultural challenges faced by expatriates. I studied psychology at the University of Rome La Sapienza, in Paris, France with the Psychosociological school of Paris 7 and trained in psychotherapy with SPS – Studio di Psicosociologia in Rome.
My approach builds on a constructionist and psychoanalytic frameworks, putting at the core of my intervention the interpretation of the symbolic components of the issues affecting my clients’ life. The goal is to provide my clients with an emotional awareness that can help them to deal with the continuous construction of meanings that life requires. Problems often arise from the loss of this capability and the feeling of being crushed by events. Dealing with the emotional component of our life allows us to reconstruct the symbolic meanings of the events of our life, providing a sense of increased capability to pursue one’s own desires.
My personal experience as an expat informs my work in this unique and often under-addressed field. I have lived abroad for many years adapting to new environments, learning new languages and building a sense of home in foreign lands. This lived experience has given me an intimate understanding and direct experience of the nuanced challenges expats face.
Over the years, I have worked with clients from diverse cultural and geographical backgrounds, helping them navigate the complexities of cross-cultural transitions, identity challenges and emotional struggles associated with living away from home. My psychoanalytic approach targets the elaboration of the emotional components of deep transformations that one can face as an expat.
I love my job as a therapist, because it allows me to encounter people with very diverse background and explore cultural diversity.
I am an English and French-speaking Psychologist and Psychotherapist in Rome, Italy, offering both in-person and online therapy sessions to adult, couples and families who are navigating expatriate challenges and life transformations in general, such as:
My goal is to help my clients not only cope with the challenges of expat life but also thrive in their unique journeys by creating new meanings for their experience.
